I really like the album A LOT, but i cannot get into Atrophy for some reason. And it makes me have to skip it, to keep me from wanting to give this a 4 or 4.5 for the sheer awesome atmosphere the rest of the album holds.

I can understand that sort of. This is really close to a 5 but I have to allow some time for my non-favorite songs to grow on me a little more.

Mediocre songwriting, annoying vocals. Predictable, boring. Very depressing lyrics, but they're still the albums strong point.

^^good point...maybe it's just me but I find this pretty unremarkable. To me this truly is the sound of waiting for death; desolate, bleak...I don't happen to find that enjoyable

Others do. I find it to be absolutely beautiful actually. Emotion on this album is so strong it feels tangible, if only for a moment...

I can certainly see how others are captivated by this...it does create palpable mood...it's just not one I care to enjoy repeatedly. This is the soundtrack to a cyanide party.
