I personally just find their songwriting very weak overall.

I think the reasons why people hate Nickelback so much is because; 1. They get too much radio play (and I mean WAY too much), 2. Their music is too plain, or 3. They're songwriting is crap. At least those are the top three complaints I get from this band.
I mean there are a few likable songs by Nickelback in general but I've just always found them to be real dull and I've never really liked them.

we can hate and despise them as much as we want but in the end Chad is getting the last laugh. He is making millions and well Avril Lavigne. Lucky Bastard .. smh

I love how horribly Nickelback is treated on this site. While I'm not a big fan of them, I will say if you want to hear "the best" record by them, I would say it is this one. It's garbage, total trash. But it's their best one.

I though Silver Side Up was really the only decent album by them. Almost every other Nickelback album just plain sucks.

OMG, I totes hate Nickelback 2 guize. BCUZ I M Cool 2 AN No 1 Cool lieks Nickelback.
Seriously guys, I don't see what the big deal is with this band. They have sold tens of thousands of albums. But you ask people if they like Nickelback and NOBODY will admit it. What is it exactly that you all find so distasteful? Chad has a good voice, the instruments (while over-produced) are easily listenable, And the lyrics are a lot deeper than you give Nickelback credit for (listen to If Everyone Cared). Anyone care to disagree?

"Chad has a good voice"
No he doesn't. I'll say that he isn't the worst singer out there but he is pretty bad.
"lyrics are a lot deeper than you geve Nickelback credit for"
Yeah, I'm sure a song about having oral sex with a waitress (Midnight Queen) is particluarly deep.
The one thing I will say is that they're semi-good with their instruments.
First and foremost, they don't care about the music they play, they just care about the money. Second, almost every album they produce practically has the exact same sound to it. And lastly, the main reason why they've sold hundred of albums because they get god knows how much airplay on the radio. Everyone is starting to get into pop music lately and Nickelback is pretty much fits the bill in that category. People just listen to the radio since they think it's cheaper than getting a CD or an iTunes card and they assume that it's good music just because it gets stuck in their head.
I'm not saying that this happens to anyone nor am I saying that Nickelback doesn't have their fans. But honestly their reasons why they make their music and what is comes out the be is why they're a horrible band. Sure they (possibly) have a couple of good songs, but that doesn't make them a good band.
And that comment on on asking people if they like Nickelback, you're wrong. I know plenty of people who say they like, even love Nickelback, and I don't give them a huge amount of crap because of it.

"And the lyrics are a lot deeper than you give Nickelback credit for "
Biggest lie I've ever seen on Sputnik. The lyrics are why I hate Nickelback - I could forgive Koreger's slightly annoying voice, or the relatively dull musicianship, but... my god, the lyrics, they're horrendously awful through and through. One song that may be the exception does nothing to refute that.
