Grammys aren't exactly the best of awards to go by, I mean put aside the fact that Jethro Tull won in 1988 (over Metallica, ironically), just that Jethro Tull was in the Hard Rock/ Metal section to begin with when very few, not even the band members themselves, considered them to be either genre at the time.
But everyone knows that story.

good review, too bad reviews don't make a band any better. metallica is heading back in the right direction, but still isn't like the 80's... they probably will never be back to that greatness unfortunately. i love'em, but it's just disappointing.

I listened to the guitar melody found in the first minute of the song Sea of Madness by Iron Maiden, and it was strikingly similar to one found in Cyanide.

Good Album wanted to give a 6.5 on 10 but at to settle for 3/5....It's good but the higher ratings must stay reserved for their real definitive works.

I used to think this was about a 3.5. Not anymore obviously.The production is pretty bad, and the whole album is definitly too loud.

That Was Just Your Life and All Nightmare Long are pretty good, and Cyanide isn't too bad. I hate The Unforgiven 3 and My Apocalypse.

I feel exactly the same way as you fadetoblack123. Just add "Broken, beat & scarred" to the great tracks and thats pretty much my feel of the album also.

Death Magnetic was surprisingly good. Its my second favorite metallica album behind Ride the Lightning.

That Was Just Your Life, All Nightmare Long and The Judas Kiss are awesome. By far the best songs of this album. The rest range from quite good to boring to hell and back

I keep it mostly to That Was Just Your Life, Broken Beat and Scarred, Day That Never Comes, Cyanide All Nightmare Long and My Apocalypse. And occasionally The Judas Kiss. Probably their fifth best album...This Message Edited On 04.06.09
