Haha the one for Lilith's Embrace is fucking awesome.
But everything Mad Grandoise Bloodfiends and above is pure shit. Listen to TCC, i think you'll like it.

In the Nightside Eclipse is my favorite release of the early Norwegian black metal scene.

Norwegian scene is great and important and all that jazz but I just don't find myself ever wanting to listen to any of its releases anymore

I understand that for sure. I never wanna listen to it as much as I used to.

thank you :]
i mean, this album isn't poor but the fact it's so hyped up to be amazing just makes me cringe that it's so overrated
maybe it was important back then but I rate based on what I hear
maybe I checked out Mayhem far too late

Well I mean this still rules, and so do most of the first few releases from the second wave bands. But as far as the urge of wanting to listen to it all the time, it's just not there anymore.

It's good stuff to go back to sometimes, but there's many more interesting things out there now.

The only time I want to listen to any of the core Norwegian bands is when I want to listen to symphonic bm, since Emperor are basically the only symphonic bm band worth anything. That and maybe the occasional Ulver.

I usually go for In the Nightside Eclipse, Bergtatt, Dark Medieval Times, Pure Holocaust, and Hvis Lyset Tar Oss. Just for the early scene that's what I go back to the most.

a true classic should be able to be revisited and be interesting and worth listening no matter what
this just doesn't have that appeal at all

It does for me. But then, this is probably my favorite black metal album of all time.

My thoughts exactly except throw some Enslaved in there and we're set.

I don't see how you can love Bathory and Sarcofago and stuff and give this a 3 though.
