This album is the best among their Albini recorded records. I was disappointed with their previous 2 efforts, so I wasn't expecting anything in the same ballpark as their "mid-period" stuff. But this one really stood out for me. Probably their most mellow record, which was quite refreshing.

you really don't like A Sun That Never Sets and Times of Grace? I feel like those are two of their least accessible records, but they're incredibly rewarding with multiple listens

It's not that I don't like them. It's just that I don't feel they're nearly as good as some of their other records. I gave them the ratings I did because of that. If ToG and ASTNS were made by just about any other group, I'd probably give them higher ratings.
