This album was a big shift from the Baroness I knew prior to its release. I used to catch them live a bunch during the First and Second era, and seeing them live playing those songs was absolutely incredible. I enjoyed Red a lot when it came out, and still think it's the best color album, but can honestly say each album progressively got worse for me from here. Seeing them live however has never changed, they are still absolutely incredible every time, even during the Yellow/Green, Purple, and G&G tours, they never disappointed, the venues and ticket prices got bigger though along the way..

I thought they sampled stars of the lid at the beginning of this album lol

so this is the best starting point or u recommend another record?

I'd say this is a great starting point and go from there. If you want something heavier check out the first two EPs. If you dig this, check out the next album the Blue Album. If you want something a little softer check out Yellow & Green. If you want to hear some really excellent albums with some of the worst production ever, check out Purple, Gold & Grey.

Haven't checked these guys since around when this dropped but had a nice revisit of this last night and it holds up great. Love the guitar playing on Wanderlust.
Definitely gonna check the older eps out. Never got around to hearing them back in the day. Think I'll go chronologically from there

I just revisited this and it is still killer. I think they must have forgot how effective their instrumental/ interlude/post-metal stuff is

Such a unique album, so fun to get lost in. Did Brian Blickle ever end up doing anything else after he left the band? Dude could really play.
