I'm always glad to see the reverence these (their first 3) albums get now that we are years passed them being considered a fad/any fan of theirs being a M4GG0T.
It still feels weird to call them this, and I'm sure the majority of people would disagree/argue this, but the s/t - Vol. 3 are actually super progressive in terms of the range of sounds they pursue (and achieve). That's not even mentioning their more experimental, ambient/avant-garde tracks which in the hands of any other band would have barred them obtaining the massive mainstream success they've garnered over the years.

I think Vol 3 in particular is probably the best example of that TheSpirit. Songs like Vermillion, Circle, and Danger - Keep Away give the album some space and melody. Someone else said this so I can’t take credit, but it’s something I think they should get props for - With Slipknot’s popularity death metal was never closer to being mainstream.

There was a time when I thought Blister Exists was the heaviest song ever and that military ending was crazy as hell

First knot best knot but this is good too. Story behind this is that they wanted to make an album that was like slayer meets Radiohead, and you can hear that at points

Hell yeah, it’s top 5 at least. That one two opening punch of Blister and Three Nil is insane.

Hell yeah. Duality is probably their best single, unless I’m forgetting something. Solway Firth might be my 2nd favorite.

psychosocial is good but i hate the transition between heavy verses and pop chorus in that one, the two different feels are so jarring
