i would love for the lions to make the super bowl for the sole fact that if the ravens either don't make it or lose at least it won't hurt so bad. plz beat the niners.

feels like the bills are in for a retooling year next year at the very least. going into the offseason with -43mil in cap, diggs prime is seemingly over and they'll save 19mil by cutting him. von miller is gonna be like 35 with a 24mil cap hit that they can't really get out of. lots of contributors hitting free agency.
feels like the exact opposite direction the packers, texans, and even bucs are going in by comparison.

Packers iirc were one of the youngest playoff teams in the history of the league. They're definitely built for the future.

re: bucs... baker is under contract for a measly 2mil next season but they're gonna have to pay him this offseason if they want him beyond that. how much do you pay him? or do you roll the dice and let next season play out and potentially have to pay him even more (or completely cut bait if things go wrong)? fascinated to see what they end up doing.
we saw similar situations play out last offseason with the seahawks and giants to mixed results.

Baker has more of a proven track record than Geno and DJ to be fair, although I feel really bad for him if Canales leaves for an HC position. He's had zero stability his entire career.
Think Tampa would be smart to give him a good contract but they shouldn't overpay. Feel like Baker would take a cut if it meant Evans gets paid too.

2y/65M would be about right for Baker and he’d probably take it if it had incentives. Would give them room to resign Evans and be more aggressive in FA

baker has demonstrated that he’s a starter imo, and I think the bucs team and fans are endeared to him after this season (terrible division but a playoff win is a playoff win)

Mark Davis has seemingly made some good hires and has maintained the culture we have. I have no complaints as long as we hit on the OC hire
|

With all due respect, Mark Davis is one of the worst owners in the league and has consistently shown he has 0 idea of how to hire the right people for the job. I dont mind AP necessarily but the gm hire is an absolute catastrophe. Also the added context that the players were going to mutiny or quit(see crosby's comments) if Mark didn't make AP head coach grosses me out. An owner/coach/gm whomever caving to the player's wants RARELY works in this league. Great owners hire strong gms who find the right coach. That hierarchy is in place for a reason and has proven fruitful often. Mark Davis hasn't earned the right to break tradition like that given his recent failures. The coaches he has passed on have nearly all had success elsewhere. This one will surely come back to bite him. How am I so sure? See the past 22 years.
