"Forces of Opposition, Bow Down.
You are Single-Handedly Outnumbered."
This is the tagline for an ad from Bushmaster Firearms. Soon after this aired, the Sandy Hook massacre happened, and the guy was using a Bushmaster.

XXX is amazing, there's so much on this album that's amazing honestly. I go back and forth between whether or not I find this better than TPAB, this whole album is so tight and well produced

"I go back and forth between whether or not I find this better than TPAB"
I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone say that this is better than TPAB. Like... I didn't even think that argument could be made.

Definitely was a somewhat-popular opinion when the album dropped, including me and I loved TPAB. A lot of people who thought tpab was lame and boring were big fans of this.
I think this album is a perfect representation of the hip hop trends of 2017, and was basically the soundtrack of that year given how widespread it was. Hearing humble or dna during an NBA game today totally takes me back to high school. I don't think this album is much more than that though, unlike GKMC by comparison which had similar commercial leanings but has stood the test of time much better.

Lorde Pots comin in with the alley oop.

It has its flaws, but TPAB is one of if not the most quintessential, innovative mainstream hip hop record of the 2010s. I have my gripes here and there but there is no denying its relevance, conceptual elevation, and cultural impact. It's just iconic. This just isn't.

This, but replace TPAB with GKMC

GKMC is like that too for sure, definitely as conceptually elevated as TPAB but not quite as innovative and maybe not as culturally empowered.

Those two albums make this look like a footnote tbh

GKMC captures the black experience of growing up in Compton LA whereas TPAB goes even further in my opinion. First of all, the sound is unapologetic in the way it draws inspiration from jazz and funk while at the same time making it digestible to a wider audience. As a whole it spreads its wings even further than gkmc and manages to spiritually capture the black experience in america in a way it hasn't been done before in hip hop in my opinion. Both are great but one is clearly more ambitious than the other.
