I think we can all agree that the reason y'all talk so reverentially and Romantically about this album is 'cause you've got a crush on Rachel Goswell. No disagreements, then? Okay, cool. Like, really, don't pretend like you don't know full well that that mousy-cute pale face of hers idealizes the shy girl of your hipster dreams; the one you wanna lay around and be sad with while you read her Infinite Jest and then come on her face. I mean, let's be serious for a second about Slowdive's actual music: come the fuck on. This? This is the band everyone's gonna claim as an epitome of 'dream pop?' I'm baffled. Even many of this site's finest users, the ones of whom I carry the highest respect for, seem to somehow fall for this crap, demonstrating (I guess) that the cultural insularity that drives a lot of us shy music geeks around can come with some really embarrassing, really tedious baggage.
