Around the time this album was released, I saw Radiohead play a small bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was a great, intimate show. I really loved the band at the time. After the show, I checked out the merch table. They had t-shirts with a small RH logo on the upper-left front side of the shirt. I asked the guys manning the table what I thought was a reasonable question, particularly given the exorbitant price of the shirts: "Is there anything on the back?" And they proceeded to ridicule me mercilessly. "Like what a giant skull?" "Or, or, a naked chick riding huge boner?" And they continued on like that between each other, laughing uproariously, even as I wandered away. That experience definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

ā€œI saw Radiohead play a small bar in Ann Arborā€ is autonomously pretty funny.

What it implies is this fascinating idea of a subjective spectrum of believability. Obviously if you say ā€œBeethovenā€ or ā€œThe Beatlesā€ or ā€œpizzamachineā€ fogza calls BS, and he probably does with ā€œNirvanaā€ too. What about ā€œthe Red Hot Chili Peppersā€ or ā€œprefab sproutā€? I think he’d be fine with ā€œStereolab,ā€ surely. What’s the least believable band this alternate-universe fogza would respond earnestly to and what’s the most believable band where he’d start to be like ā€œha, good oneā€

Makes you think

Anyone know where it started? If it’s a Kuiss original the bloke deserves a knighthood. It’s absolutely classic when I saw it pop up in a Brian Eno thread I pissed myself.

I think I didn't consider the location too seriously as I kind of skimmed through it and got fixated on the scenario of the clown merch guys
