Lol, there's no such thing as a mandatory top 10 album. Personal taste is a thing. I think every death metal fan respects Death, but their sound isn't going to appeal to everyone, especially not on that level. I don't think that should need to be explained.
Also, favorite albums by a band can change, and top 10's can change. Mine certainly changes, and I couldn't even do a proper top 10 because there's too much good dm out there.

I definitely like some of the music, and I've learned some songs on guitar.
I've tried coming back to it over the years, since I've come to like a lot of vocal styles I used to hate, but there's just something about him that's so grating idk lol

I do now. And for a long time, when I started listening to dm, symbolic was an ez #1. (Genre classification of the album debate aside) then I kinda wandered away from them for a long time. There was probably a good 5-year stretch where I hardly listened to Death at all.
But over the last few years I've really come back to them. I still love symbolic. And human, spiritual healing and leprosy are 3 of my fav dm albums. If I had to do my top 25 dm albums again, I'd probably put Human just below Nihil Quam... by Ad Nauseam at 8 or so
