John Haughm is now saying that he essentially split off from the rest of the guys, is now the sole member of Agalloch, and hasn't decided whether to end it or continue yet.

Yeah I was a little confused about how he said the band had returned to its original state with a sole member. Almost sounded a bit pretentious tbh

he even referred to himself as a "visionary", so, yeah, a little bit.

I mean, it's accurate. after 20 years apparently he has the right to say that

I sure hope so dude. I guess if they do break up, it'd be much more respectable then them continuing to put out dull, uninspired material

He may be right in calling himself a visionary, but that doesn't make him any less arrogant.

I don't think anything they've done is dull or uninspired. The only thing less than stellar was TSATS, but that was still good at least.

Yeah, The Serpent and the Sphere was alright. It was probably the worst thing they ever released, though.

Serpent is their weakest release but still a really great album, it would've been very interesting to see where they would've gone next.

So many great bands just can't keep it up. Being a musician pays shit but trying to come up with awesome metal AND work a full time job AND spend time with friends and family AND get some time to yourself, it's exhausting.

Agreed, but at the same time I'm also kinda happy they decided to call it quits. It was clear they were past their prime so it was a wise decision. This is just a stone cold classic and a masterpiece.
