Around the Fur had a certain guitar sound, a warmth and a groove they'd lose after - frosty stuff like Digital Bath is impressive but nowhere near as unique imo. Any arty indie rock band could come up with similar.



They did sensual metal and no one else could get away with that - 90% of what they released in their career should have sounded a bit like the AtF t/t as far as I'm concerned

Their ability to branch out into different styles separates them from the rest of their 'nu-metal' peers imo. If 90 percent of their output was the ATF style they'd be a boring band.

Oh so were comparing QOTSA and Deftones in a Radiohead now fun.



Wouldn't really consider Deftones a rock band and the thought of comparing them is kind of weird but yeah I prefer Deftones if you haven't been able to tell. Although the only QOTSA album I've really jammed is Songs for the Deaf which is a fucking killer album.
