they could be good performers but i don't think that would change how i think about the album itself.

I really dont see what the fuss is with these guys. Some enjoyable moments, the post rock inspired sections are nice overall but the black metal influenced parts pretty much ruin it for me.
Wait until you see them perform this album live and your rating will change.
I reckon a live experience would make this so much better, i think it's the production on here that seems to take something away for me. I can't quite put my finger on it, it's a decent enough album as is roads to judah but the bm sections just don't push my buttons. I think the best way i can describe it is they feel too "sterile" for my liking. Like i said the album is ok, but just something leaves me unmoved. I may come back to this at a later date and get more out of it, but at the moment it's just not hitting the spot.

I personally like my BM with a little more grit, so I get the "sterility" idea. The vocals also sort of irk me; they seem strained, like George is losing his voice and can't yell as loudly because of it.
