Well if she distracted you from Meshuggah that's good enough reason for her to be your ex and not your current

She must have been sick in the mind as well

I'm pretty sure it was our last concert. My boyfriend stuck it out with me for six hours at Summer Slaughter this year so I've definitely upgraded.

probably the review i disagree with most on this site

understandable.. sometimes I get the notion people don't even really listen to what's really going on here.

I fucking FINALLY listened to this on my commute this morning and it is awesome. Where is the love?

Definitely some love on this site, many will say it's their favorite Agalloch.

Not my favorite, but this is still cool.
Also, I love the artwork on this album.

All I ever see on lists are The Mantle or (less often) Ashes Against the Grain. I had little inclination to check this. It's been on my ipod for a couple years now.

I got this when it came out and it's been a close second to Mantle ever since

I'm an Ashes kinda guy myself and while I do like The Mantle, this style is kind of suiting me better. Can't believe I put off listening to this.

it's just got more...teeth to it than Ashes. I like that. mostly because Painted Grey is a bomber opening song.

It definitely has more teeth than Ashes and the opener rules, yeah. Glad to see some support; I was going to say I never see this thread bumped, but that's probably because I'd never commented on it until today.

It has more than twice as many comments as Ashes (: .. but every time I see that review rating a shake my head.

i don't know if i can really put a well-explained finger on why it trumps the others. it certainly feels much more depressive than their other releases, which is a quality that attracts me to it
it's also unmistakably a "winter" album, which I can't even begin to explain, but I hear it, and it's winter

Album Rating: 4.5
Definitely their most winter album.

i feel ashes is more like a winter album, this gives me more of early spring vibes you know, when it's still cold and dark but the snow is starting to melt
