its not an expansion......he wanted to mix an upbeat super bop free jazz with noisy grind......to make a unique sound. And that he did. And he had stage presence. He made an experimental type of music that EXPANDED on the noisy, upbeat element of hard bop, and made it even heavier by adding modern grind, he only expanded the heavy aspect of it, its not like he's playing grind riffs with breakdowns and then shifting to a 2-5-4-1 jazz chord progression lol

It's almost worth the mounds of hyperbolic claims it receives

does this imply that it is indeed not worth the mounds of hyperbolic claims it receives?

He's expanding on a lot of the aspects of the music - technicality is not the only aspect to music or are you still on your little prog pedestal?

I never said that. It's not an expansion of jazz. It's free jazz/hard bop with grind breaks. It's fun, inventive as fuck, and is fantastic live. Thats it.
