Every time I listen to Colors I fast forward to the good parts in every song because there are boring parts to wade through. This album has them too but the good parts are way more consistent.

I agree. For instance, I feel like Disease, Injury, Madness and Swim to the Moon are the most boring, but their most boring parts are still fairly interesting to listen to, unlike most of their discography.

I have the AAAH MAAGGIICCIAAANNSSS PUUURE JOOOY! part of Obfuscation as my ringtone. Pretty badass.

No joke, second half of Obfuscation is one of the greatest segments of music they've ever written
A few of the other ones are also on this album

Those are my two favorites!

Swim to the Moon is a weak point on this album for me because it's so damn long.
Disease is boss though.

What can I say, bitches b crazy. No honestly though, the heavier parts in those songs just drag them down. But the more progressive elements make them a lot more interesting; for instance, I love the mid-section of Disease

the thing that separates this from colors is the way the prog parts tie in with the heavier parts. Not only are they more interesting and listenable, but they blend and flow so much better. That's the defining element of what makes this 2x better than Colors for me.

I definitely agree. It's much more cohesive- however, I do get annoyed with the little things like the awkward gap between Disease and Fossil's intro. I guess it wasn't exactly NECESSARY to make them fit perfectly together, but it would have been a nice touch.
That being said, Mirrors is still the highlight of this band's career

tbh I actually quite like the heavier parts in Disease, they feel a lot more cohesive and unlike in Colors don't drag on for very long.

I definitely agree on the transition between DIM and Fossil being awkward. But that's what 70 percent of Colors felt like for me, so it was nice that there was only one major example of that grating transition on this album.
And yeah, Disease has some of the best heavy parts on the album. Notably in the last 40 seconds or so of the song.

Yeah I can see what you guys mean at least. I've just been really bothered with their heavier side lately... Alaska was great, but since then it feels kinda half-assed to me. They have moments of brilliance, but those moments seem to always be the more musical ones, the less metal ones. I guess I'm not as much as a BTBAM fan as I once was, although they do mean a lot to me bc Colors introduced me to progressive essentially

Yeah, I definitely like this album the most from them because it has the most prog and the least metalcore. This is the only one of theirs (other than Alaska) that I can listen to very much without getting annoyed by the vocals.

I like this and Alaska most. Love the production and melodies.

Definitely. Alaska has gotten a lot of respect from me lately; it seems to be most natural for them. All Bodies and Autodidact are so fantastic, as is The Primer...

"I like this and Alaska most. Love the production and melodies."
Are you referring to this or Alaska with the production comment? I think Alaska rules but the production has always struck me as pretty bad. This is probably my least favorite from them but MAAAaaannnn is the production amazing... AND the drums. Best drums on any BTBAM record.

Yeah I meant the production and melodies on TGM.
