From a production approach I would say fpu is more samey, noisy mess, but also the most abrasive and challenging (writingwise) of them all.

FPU is their best by (not that) far

"feel like it’s a little more diverse than this one, which starts to sound “samey” in the back half (at least to me)"
for real. much better paced, much more versatile, hits much harder at its harshest and generally avoids this one's alt metal eyerollers. probs my fav from what I've heard

FPU is their peak for sure

I haven’t actually listened to this since my rather obsessive stint post-release, I don’t know what this means moving forward or whatever, probably nothing

I need to check again!

It’s so weird that FPU isn’t my favorite record considering it’s connection with Kurt Ballou.

I really don’t care for the production on that record, which is REALLY fucking weird since I think he’s one of the best in the game right now.

Kurt Ballou and Will Putney are probably the best producers in the game right now, but they both have their occasional missteps.

I really don’t know how to describe it. It sounds… thin? I dunno. Even the heaviest songs on that record don’t hit that hard imo

I felt like it was more of a mathy/hardcore style of production. The guitars specifically reminded me of the production on END’s most recent album. I still enjoyed it but ya way different sounding than all other ETID albums

Quotable lyrics are certainly a feature here, hard not to partake sometimes

Yeah but again the production really hurts it. I like the record, don’t get me wrong, it just sounds so off to me.

much prefer the FPU prod to this, band works better fleet-footed than with surplus pounds on them bones
