imo PC and heritage are both really let down by akerfeldt's vocals. some of the vocal melodies don't fit well with the music
and he over-sings in a few parts. i really prefer his softer, more-subtle clean singing voice to this new style. also, COE
should have been a b-side. it doesn't make sense amongst the rest of the proggy experimentation. apart from that i'm
digging this.

That's the only gripe I'm having with the record so far, some of the subtle & melodic segments kinda meld awkwardly with Mikael's vocals. Kinda glad he took a back seat for the most part though, cos the instrumentation is easily their most experimental to date.

yep. a good example is the beginning of elysian woes. i feel like some softer vocals would work better there. but when it works it works. FIO has to be the highlight for me with ERWC and goblin close behind. that solo in MASB rips SO hard as well.

Aside from Cusp, I feel like Elysian Woes finishes WAY too abruptly. Like, it just starts picking up the pace towards the end and just finishes abruptly.
Have to agree with you there baldy, FIA is beautiful and I really dig the orchestra on Treason too.
