“I NEVER said this, LMAO”
“Bro it's not ridiculous, you're just wrong.. jeez. **Having bad production and being an imitation isn't something subjective**. w/e”
You can’t even keep up with your lies, Shuyin.
“And then you asked me to bring metrics and data and SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS for some fucking reason.. w/e bro”
Have a guess why? If someone is calling something objective, then it’s measurable. Opinions on production, like music quality, are subjective.
“Because you said the production was bad on their last 2 albums”
Go back and look at what I actually said. Find a quote where I said “the production is bad on those albums”. You’re arguing against comments I never even made. Just ridiculous. I said *I* think the tones on those last two albums are weaker compared to the what came before and they’re pale imitations (this is in relation to the actual song craft).
Any normal person would just say they disagree and move on, not go off on some weird rant about how they’re wrong, when the whole thing is opinion based. It’s the stuff of delusional fanboys. Like I said, I didn’t grill you over thinking those albums sound “perfect” (which I completely disagree with), because what’s the point? I think you do care about what Aaron Turner thinks, because you’re essentially worshipping some albums that he doesn’t even rate. I came to my conclusions long before I’d even discovered the interview (there was even an official ISIS forum at one point and very few people rated ITAOT btw!). It’s not as if ITAOT is even widely acclaimed; it’s sat at something like 70/100 on meta. Just accept that other people don’t blindly fawn over the same bands you do and move on; life will be a lot less stressful for you.

what the fuck

"Having bad production and being an imitation isn't something subjective" now translates to "You still think music production and ultimately music quality isn’t subjective"

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/imitation

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/quality

^that's just how sad you're being

"Any normal person would just say they disagree and move on"

Why can't you take your own advice?

“Having bad production and being an imitation isn't something subjective"
If you’re saying it’s not subjective, what is it? We’re talking about music here, not the purity of a mineral.
Why are you giving me dictionary definitions that you seemingly completely misunderstand? The quality of something in the arts is not measurable in the sense that a manufacturer can measure the quality of a wood, for example. Why am I having to even explain these basic principles? Someone said pages back, quietly, that all production is opinion based. It just doesn’t seem to compute with you. Do you think when you said the guitar tones and vocals for those albums are “perfect” it isn’t just your opinion? This is madness.

re. Aaron Turner's takes on Isis albums, gonna pull a diplomatic who cares; if Isis' best album was an autopilot fluke, that changes nothing for me.

It doesn’t change anything for me, either. If he hated Oceanic, I’d still love it. It’s just unusual that someone would be so open about it. Shuyin would be lecturing him right now about how his opinions about the album he worked on are completely wrong, though. This isn’t subjective, don’t forget.

Yeah I don’t get it. What’s going on? Album is 🔥 and in my subjective opinion the production is very good okay.

I think Oceanic and Panopticon are pretty much the pinnacle of the genre, but I’m not really fussed at all on what came after. Celestial is also massively underrated to me.

WR and this probably deserve to share the top spot, but there are just too many individually stunning moments on WR whereas this one really takes its time to get there - I know which I prefer, but they're both near-perfect for different reasons. Oceanic and Celestial are tight too - can we just agree that Absence was their nearest thing to a misfire and move on?

You tell me to ‘move on’, then call me a psycho for something I never, ever said. Quote exactly where I said you shouldn’t call ITAOT or WR perfect. I’ll wait. I even said your opinions on the quality of those albums is fine, because it’s opinion based. What is your problem?
A few pages back, I said: “because WR has the best production in the genre” - that’s your opinion (which is perfectly fine, but it’s subjective).
Do you just not bother to read what others are saying? I called Panopticon and Oceanic the pinnacles of the genre. Get a grip of yourself.
