Just represents Opeth's proggy side perfectly imo, might be my fave Mikael performace (behind MA,YH).

Its just the sparse placing of harsh vocals that irk me. There should have been more vocal variety.
You get Heir Apparent and The Lotus Eater then a huge gap until growls appear mid way through Hessian
Peel.

This has always been my biggest problem with this album. It feels so unbalanced with most of the heaviest parts being in tracks 2 and 3. Coil does help slightly with that but the album still feels unbalanced and overall not as well arranged as it could have been.
Plus what I consider to be the weakest tracks on here both appear in the middle section of the album which doesn't help the album's flow.
