there wasn't as much hype surrounding it, or as much talk of its political leanings (good kid was politic bent too, but was subtle instead of using exposition). the praise this album has received still baffles me. i feel like it's got one too many songs and a lot of them are formulaic and repetitive. good kid was more concise and just brought some really varied tunes and creative ideas to the table (sherane, art of peer pressure, sing about me). and the melodies on that album, man. still fire

Yeah the over-the-top praise has put me off listening to the full album every since it first released, there is no way the album could be as good as everyone says it is
