I should probably get around to checking the rest of Tool's discography (only heard this & the faeces-themed one) but their extensive history of releases is simply overwhelming.

"can you summarize"[2] Yes please, I cant stomach hearing them circle jerk over DMT.
they don't bring up DMT once. They talk about Maynard's bands for like 15 minutes
some key notes:
Tool has one more album under contract. Some songs are "finished" but nothing is recorded
APC just signed a one album deal
Nothing is confirmed but based on a comment Maynard made, he knows to release an album in either spring or fall, which then counts out this coming up fall based on some other things he said about timing and scheduling
He also acknowledge the pressures of such long delays, but as far as insight he mostly said that the delay is mostly due to "the process" by which the other guys take to structure out the songs. He said his part he can do relatively quickly, but that was not him placing blame. He was just really telling it like it is. He said he respects their process, but that obviously it can be frustrating for him too, because they'll present stuff to him and then change it all up at the last minute

He really stressed the point that the other three band members were really meticulous and even "tedious" in their songwriting process. He used a metaphor of them "laying the foundation" but changing the struts again and again before he could build a house on top so the speak. He acknowledged that while that is frustrating, he ultimately respects it and stresses that it's the only way for them to write.
But yeah some songs are *finished*, others they are still working on.
he also regretted the whole Fibonacci thing with Lateralus, thinking it was a bit juvenile or at least not worth repeating.

If I could rate bands on productivity & quality combined, these guys would get a default 1/5. You know, I like this (clearly) & have a decent amount of respect for what they've created... both this & Enema are excellent but it shouldn't take this damn long.

At this rate if the new album is anything below a 4.5 it'll be a complete disappointment. I can't see the band doing this type of long delayed album again. Got a feeling their new one will be their last.

Watch it be one song of Danny Brown saying nothing but "chuuuuuch, my third eye woke bitch" looped for an hour straight with Maynard and Co. playing nag champa polyrythyms to the beat of Joe Rogan talking about how awesome lifting kettlebells whilst high on DMT is.

I had to stop listening to Rogan a few years ago. His podcast became unbearable. Increased UFC talk and fucking kettlebell ads every episode. Started to come off as a bit of an enlightened asshole.
