Only 2-3 solos on PF sound a little off, but they aren't bad. Besides that, everything about the guitars on it and this are amazing. And agreed Mongi, I've always felt that his vocals aren't especially spectacular, but they're perfect for the sound Agalloch goes for.

This is basically made to sound like it was recorded in a log cabin. Vox are perfect for it, agreed

I'm sure the guys in Agalloch are influenced by Death in June to some extent. The acoustic songs are quite similar

Interview with JH:

"we have a lot of influences that range from black metal like Bathory and Ulver to doomy stuff like Bethlehem and Katatonia all the way to stuff like Fields Of The Nephilim, Swans, Coil, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Arvo Part, Death In June, Steve Reich, and Joy Division."

I've been listening to this album more often and as much as I like it, I think I'm more into Ashes.

Same here dude. Ashes is my personal favorite, but everything Pale Folklore - Marrow is incredible.

All of 3 first albums are classics. Hard to pick which one is better since they are very different. I like distinctive production on those albums. PS: Whoa what list from John Haughm, most of my favorite artists xD. Now i get where does the end of Ashes come from, it's Coil.

You're lost in a snowstorm

Alone in the wilderness

Isolated from society

The wind assaults your face and you feel completely hopeless

Out of the distance you see a cabin and head there for refuge

You light a fire in the cabin and drift off
