hmmm well would you say the new one was a grower or did you love it on your first listen? There's something about the vocals in this one that i like better than the new one.

i needed this one to grow (my first The National) but for the new one it was really easy to get into, it sounds pretty much like Boxer. and yeah, Berninger's vocals aren't mostly as low in TWFM as they are in the earlier albums but that works for me, they still sound comfortably relaxing

High Violet is the most accessible National album Atari. The new one takes more time to grow into like Boxer and Alligator but is ultimately better in every way.
