The fact that you rate their best the same as I rate their worst bothers me a little

"The fact that you rate their best the same as I rate their worst bothers me a little"
The lowest rated thing I have of Agalloch's discog is a three so it's not too bad.

Nah
Also, for the record, when I say worst I mean in terms of full lengths. I'd rate this above stuff like The Grey and Tomorrow Will Never Come

I just really couldn't get into "The Mantle", I know to most it's their best album but to me it's only a 3/5. I just dig this so much more.

I always liked The Mantle but found it kind of overlong at first. It's grown on me a lot though and it's a close second behind Ashes now.

I actually haven't listened to Ashes yet, I've jammed Serpent, Mantle and this.

You should definitely make that a priority! That one has been my unwavering favourite by these guys since I first heard it years ago

As soon as I finish jamming the Insomnium album I was recommended I'll jam it.

Don't forget Pale Folklore. It's their 2nd best imo

Jamming Ashes right now and I already dig it more than The Mantle

It's got a totally different vibe, but I prefer it.

First 3 are all classics. Like probably the best 3 album stretch ever tbh.

I dunno, first three Ulver albums, first three Katatonia an pretty much all things converge might take that for me. Or Bad Moon Rising through Sister from Sonic Yourh.
