couldn't get into this at all on first listen. is this just one of those albums that you've got to persevere with?

don't force it if it doesn't instantly click with you, you just need to be in the mood for that. i'd say the perfect setting for this is a grey late fall night and a nice cup of tea or something but try jamming it whenever you're feeling sort of empty inside (do you know what i mean?)

a lot of albums are best listened to when you actually have time to approach it with patience and full attention, with an open mind or maybe in a slightly bleak mood

a lot of people never have the patience for that type of album so its never for them

but i understand where people are coming from in saying they needed to let it grow on them

im almost always in an overly alert slightly bleak mood for better or worse

Really needed to be in the the right mood for this to click but when i was it clicked hard. Defenitely need to be in a bleaker mood for this one

yeah that all makes sense. I first heard it was last summer and gave it my full attention quite late at night with the lights off, but I was in a happy place at that point in my life so that could be it. I'll take your advice and try it again when the mood takes me

I think I'm slowly 'getting' it, currently lost in the album. Need more time with it

I was recommended this album on my depressing recs list.

Kind of intimidated based off what I've heard of it

80 minutes in one sitting is a tall order? That's nothing, dude

Well relative to the average commercial album (40-50 mins), it is. Obviously a tonne of albums surpass it in length

It's all relative. I suppose if someone has the attention span of a rodent, in that case yeah 80 min is pretty long :]

Best indie/post-hardcore/post-sadboy record around. The songwriting is just so strong.
