I feel like Mastodon is always mentioned when people talk about lame live shows. Do they just have no energy or something? Are they like Soungarden where only their arms move more than an inch for the entirety of a show?

They used to be pretty stagnant and couldn't sing the cleans introduced around 2006 for at least five years. They've gotten a lot better though in my experience, but it's hard to shake a reputation.

Haha it's true. As they've become better showmen, the material has gotten less exciting. At least they opened with Hearts Alive in '14 and made my life complete.
