This album is so good as a whole, its definitely up there with Focus for me. Its a lot more cohesive,
almost written like one song, the bookends help start it off and finish it on the perfect note while
the rest of the album blends so well together... Space, Integral, Kings, and Nunc Stans are full of
these celestial riffs and leads of just pure whoa...
I can go on forever about this album and sometimes think its their best cause I love every minute of
it but then I listen to tracks on Focus and realize how individually they smash Traced in Air to bits

But I don't think that Focus being brilliant should detract from Traced in Air being a classic or near-classic too. It's an amazing album that's just unfortunate to not be the best album released by Cynic...

the vocoder was much more tolerable on focus, here the octave shift is ridic he sounds higher than geddy lee at the end of cygnus but not in a good way

All in the name of experimentation. Not a big fan of the vocoder, either here or on focus, but then again, the grunting wasn't particularly good either.
