I said on another thread - every peer music site seems to have an option to both donate or pay extra for no adverts and then some additional well thought through features - if you want to. These are all an annual charge like £10-£20 only.
LastFM do it. RYM do it. AOTY do it.
Most show which users have and it seems maybe a third of regulars opt for that.
If you asked most people here either start something similar and the place was run professionally and new features and updates were made or have as is with no new users and the site crumbling with infighting rife behind the scenes....well, i think they'd say run it like sites that look well run.

according to sowing, normal's blog entries can be recovered and put under the general staff account (?
me posting this 'summary' i wrote yet again, sorry for the spam:
"@spec normaloctagon agreed with someone else's comment that comatorium was an 'unwelcome site presence' and the mods deleted normal's comment, then normal said he was witholding his contributions as a staffer if a 'logical explanation' was not given, jom said that as a general rule they don't give detailed explanations for mod decisions, normal kept asking and then was demoted to normal user, this caused all of his blog entries as staff to be deleted (this was a mistake in the demoting process, according to sowing), according to mods this wasnt the reason normal was demoted but rather coincidentally coincided with mid-year demotions they had planned, then about 20 of the other staffers said they sided with normal and wanted him to be reinstated, for mods to make their decisions more transparent, and for a 5th mod to be added to the rooster that had to be selected by both current mods and staff, mods refused, staff said they're not posting more stuff until the demands are met, then mods demoted all of those staffers and banned them; according to the mods, the bans were done to prevent fights within the site breaking out in the heat of the moment but the decision made staffers more mad, negociations stalled now here we are

all I do know is he's incredibly hostile and starts shit in peoples profiles. Very antagonistic and combative with people even though he doesn't comment or make his presence known often.
