Distress Rehearsal is nuts, Jordan and Andy know their way around a riff.

I can see Distress Rehearsal being Stone Cold's favorite track

Yep still fucking owns. Wish the production was a little less polished though.

These guys sound better when they're dirty (that's what she said)

The one problem I have with the sound is the low end seems too present, and I don't mean bass and kick, I mean like the overall album has like a bed of low end that feels heavy handed. Or something idk

Production is fine, less compressed than Low Teens.

felt the same way at first but i've grown to really love it

that being said i don't think any of their other albums would really benefit from this style production like i've seen many others say. albums like ex lives and from parts unknown wouldn't be nearly as good if they sounded this clean

This definitely sounds better than Low Teens. My least favorite thing about that album was that the production was too sterile.

I've grown accustomed to the sound, but it did bother me for a bit.

@Jay and @Josh you guys should get on EqualizerAPO and setup an EQ specific for Radical (or similarly warm albums). Use a 31-band EQ and try to get the low end (basically everything under 500Hz) in a place that still sounds good but allows the mids and highs to come out more. Tune everything just up to where you start hearing noise. What is likely if you have cheap earphones is you may have a "hill" with a peak at around 800hz with a gradually lowered bass and some minor reductions in the treble to minimize noise and sibilance.

It is indeed true this album is a little forward in the lower mids and bass, and trust me when I say it's astronomically more enjoyable with the right mid and treble forwardness to it. Keith's vocals are insane when you can hear them super clearly, and the guitars have way more bite to them. My thread: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/trantalockeds-equalizer-apo-eq-thread.954259/

I actually use Radical as one of my benchmarks now because the production is high quality enough to be used as a good reference for EQing, in addition to Converge, Green Day and Infected Mushroom. So while Radical is warm, it was clearly still produced with a consistent, non-peaky EQ on high quality monitors.

random shower thought I had the other day: The one and only perfect choice for being the vocalist of their new band is not Josh Scogin. It needs to be Matt Caughthran from The Bronx.

Think about it - Scogin wants to do his own thing and isn't interested in hardcore-y stuff anymore. Matt however basically said how much he misses the aggressive stuff from The Bronx' first album. They're all friends, but Scogin wants to write in the bands he's in and Matt is used to being vocals only. Jordan already wrote a few new songs with Goose. It has to be Matt

Beautifully said Tranta, damn. Could have used your tutoring in audio production lol.

I jam mostly everything in my car now, finally got it right where I want it. Sounds incredible. Spent at least an hour toying with the knobs and setting the bass and treble just right. Also boosting my fader just a tad so the back speakers get to ring out a bit more. Makes the music feel more "full" throughout the whole car.

What a final record. I like this even more than dillingers last one. Sucks they had to end with drama, but at least they put out their best album.
