Brann's tom-tom riffs on Crystal Skull and Cysquatch are better than the entirety of their last two albums.

Gave up after the hunter and the shambolic live performance I attended but fuck me this album is still amazing.

the hunter/heritage tour sucked. Ghost totally outplayed both bands.

saw them again last year and they ruled. way more energy and better setlist. Thickening and The Hunter just don't get a crowd moving like Crystal Skull and Megalodon.

I like Remission and this, but I've never been able to get into their other albums for some reason.

it was huge when it came out. everyone was like IT'S BETTER THAN LEVIATHAN

and then there was this odd backlash and it's sorta lost in the "yeah it's pretty good but it was too weird, man" territory. whatever, as long as I can listen to it and be happy I'm not too too worried about its place in history.

I actually first heard of Mastodon in 2006 when I read an interview with Brann Dailor in some magazine, and he was hyping up Blood Mountain. So I went out and bought it. It's definitely not a bad album, it's just kind of there I guess.

i don't remember anyone but my and my buddy being super stoked on blood mountain. leviathan definitely seemed the legendary album of the time though yeah

blood mountain was/is prob too experimental and proggy for trad metal fans, but boy what a great fuckn album

You like it more than Remission? I think Remission is by far their best.

yeah but it's not by a whole lot. I'm totally letting my Mastodon fangirl out right now, but their first four are all like in my top 20 or 30 albums ever. I know every nook and cranny of Remission through Crack the Skye.

dethklok was weird though and high on fire opened but we missed them LA traffic

but it at least got to see high on fire at 2007 long beach gigantour, pike fucking ruledddddddddddd
