The beginning of a download slope for Mastodon. After the psychedelic-metal-bluegrass-insanity of perfection that is Blood Mountain, which also packed a dose of twisted humour that really enforced the heaviness, Crack the Skye is too serious, boring, wanky and pretentious.

This shit is off the wall. It brings the prog, the riffs and the atmosphere. A masterpiece right here. Shame they didn't follow up with it.
