I have always failed to understand why this band is so popular. I prefer early Pearl Jam or Alice in Chains.

When this existed it blew the fucking doors open. PJ were amazing and to be fair life changing, Alice In Chains were great but Nirvana were unparalleled, unrivalled pioneering, beamed from another planet saviours. Fucking colossal.

Let me guess, because rock music was dead? I guess people were just really bad at searching for music when the internet wasn’t as prevelant.

Alice in Chains were a bit crusty and niche, sort of metal community flirts with a side helping of smack chic.
Pearl Jam were a little earnest, classic rock-ish and unrelatable - the older brother who surfs.
Nirvana were a force of nature and just had the magic - you couldn't take your eyes off them in any screen performance, or even on screen appearance be it an interview or whatever. Had that magnetic thing that very few bands have.
Loved all three bands but Nirvana were the proper band, the gods of the day like Elvis, Hendrix, Zeppelin.
