I like Slayer more than both those bands but I also believe crossover thrash is the superior version of the genre and this has more in common with that than those bands

i just truly can't comprehend how you can like other slayer albums and think this one is meh. sure it's faster but other than that it's still obviously classic slayer. it reeks of contrarianism and the need to be different.
show no mercy and this are incredibly different. just listen to the drum tracks of either album back to back.

Hell Awaits I pretty much have above it for being a little more instrumentally complex

i like what hell awaits is trying to do but the drumming just holds back the momentum. slayer just should have stayed as a satanic speed metal band with fun drumming
now seven churches? that is a masterpiece

search up early power metal or speed metal lists from the first half of the eighties, like exciter's heavy metal maniac (1983). such a sick album
also mercyful fate self-titled EP (1982) & helloween's self-titled EP (1985)

mercyful fate's s/t is the most underrated metal classic of all time. it should be in every metalhead's top 10 without exception

@Wildcard: yeah you got it right, she actually renamed one of her old Dariacore tracks after she came out so yep, she/her's right. Jane's fuckin cool, I don't really vibe pre-Census too much but that's just me, she's really coming into her own and I like that

all 80s thrash was good. I would never judge anyone for liking one over the other. One of the rare cases where all opinions are valid
