These guys opened for Mastodon on their last EU tour and they were so fucking bad. Completely put me off giving their records a shot.

That’s hard to believe. I don’t think I’ve ever heard negative feedback about their live show. They’re very different from Mastodon so I could very much understand a Mastodon fan just not digging Loathe’s style

I've seen them live, and they absolutely slap. Definitely just an issue with not liking their style versus a genuine issue with their skill or sound design.

was supposed to see them open for periphery and underoath a while back. can't remember the back story (van broke down/wrecked on the way to venue?) but they came on stage and spent their entire set time setting up, tried playing one song but the guitar amp was fucked, and had to leave. felt really bad for them and the other bands were very sympathetic to their situation

I’d go just to see Gifted Every Strength… I’m really not kidding when I say that’s legitimately one of my favorite songs of all time. I’ve loved it since it dropped and it works even better in the context of the record

Yeah I mean I don't doubt that they're capable musicians, but that night specifically the vibe was just off, like the room was way too big for them, and most of the audience was very obviously there just to see Mastodon. Maybe I'll give them another chance if they come back with a headline show in a smaller venue.

yeah I mean they're pretty good live. saw them at Arctangent some off years ago closing a rainy day, slapped.



Disc is really underwhelming, there is not one single track I'd put over tracks from their previous effort honestly.
