Just a little gush session since I haven’t really talked about this album too much in the last few days, and neither of my friends that are about as into them as I am have texted back… SO:

Im pretty damn sure there isn’t a “young” band (no idea how old these guys are… clean came out in 2019, so im gonna assume late 20’s) out there dropping shit as good as Rouge or this fuckin monster of an album. I mean shit, Converge put out TWO records and fucking Neurosis got back together this year… two absolutely legendary bands doing things I never expected but am so goddamned ecstatic about, and with all of that I’m still listening to Static Dress the most.

I hope this band has a very long and bright future ahead of them, because when I hear old heads talking about catching big bands when they were playing dives I get jealous, if these guys stay the course without too much drama I feel like im gonna be an old head talking about seeing these guys in tiny spots in 10-15 years when they’re playing massive venues.

I really thought they would’ve been bigger by now, but I still fully expect them to blow up at some point. It’s just, i mean goddamn, how many times do they need to open for Underoath or fkn BMTH before those dipshits start listening to our boys?

I’m rambling, album gud, band gud

AOTY so far, which is unreal because like I said, that Neurosis record is just too damn good, and if neither them or Converge could manage to top it then I really don’t see how any other band could.

I have Neurosis, Hammock and Boards of Canada over this, but they're all 5s lol. 2026 is absolutely wild.

Really hoping they play most of this record at these little headline shows with face and crying thrown in, they’ll obv play clean, but I’d really be totally fine with them completely ignoring Rouge… aside from maybe such a shame because the way they open up with the redux version before going into the song proper is so well done and such a good way for everyone to catch a breather

“ 2026 is absolutely wild”

Really might be my favorite year for music in my lifetime, and we’re not even through June yet. None of the records I was looking forward to have disappointed and everything unexpected has also been fire.

The jpeg album fell off pretty hard for me I guess, but even then that’s still really solid LP imo

What do we still have brewing for the year? Any chance we get a new Norma Jean ya think? Just can’t think even of what else is coming out at this point. Everything just came out lol. I guess maybe new Mastodon, haven’t seen an official release date yet though.

Hell yeah broski

And tbh I’m not really thrilled for new Norma, was extremely underwhelmed by their last LP but I’m welcome to be surprised.

I’m def still in the beginning phases with the “new” NJ but I like it quite a bit. Difficult to pinpoint where it will land in ranking. Since it’s so dense and relatively experimental, I can’t tell if it’ll grow on me more…or just kinda stay where it is. I currently have it at a 3.5.

Whilst I agree they are deffo growing, the last headline show I saw them at was at the Rebellion in Manchester and in October they're playing the Academy 2 which is about double the capacity.

It needs to be more though, they deserve it they're so good
