still jamming this but initial impression is yes it rules but they have sacrificed some of the violent/physical element of the music in favor of going all in on the speed gimmick. also the drumming is def a step down (still good) which for this style is noticeable. still a super fun blend of brutality, speed and melody tho

"i like this, but the mad vocal work becomes a little annoying towards the end."

yea this. I get that their schtick is the whole band is fast, but it just gets tedious sometimes

album is sick, red goliath is a monster track

I couldn't stand the vocals when I first checked this band out, but I've grown to be more okay with them. I appreciate they are different and unique, and I think they are very fitting for Archspire's music.

yeah shart the last drummer is a legend. the new guy definitely won't replace him fully but I hope he flexes more of his chops next go 'round.

On first listen I think this is not quite as good as BTF but it's very close.

Cool album, compared to their previous 2 i don't feel the novel and innovatory spirit

nailed it there. rare combo of fun, easy listening and challenging at the same time. easy to keep going back and then finding new things.

It's fun to try and imitate Oli and his speed and it's fucking impossible

It really is, no idea how he does it. Whether you're a fan or not it's hard to deny there's some serious technique and talent there

it feels like taking tech death to it's logical extreme using vocals as another technical, percussive instrument

100%. I pulled up Limb of Leviticus and just mouthing the words to this section was almost impossible with how fast he runs these lines:

They will beg and mourn and cry, let it never dull the blade

Know you’re right and never let the cries of others make you falter

Tear the vacant non believer then be carried up to glory

Grant to us your spine that we may fly

Then you get the two "slowest" lines with the pre-chorus and chorus:

All who trust the grand divide will be rained upon

By the mechanical veins of god

Teachings of the old and dated ways of the Leviticus

Are Buried with the dead remains of all that believed it

Limb of the leviticus

Born to bio-litigate

We have read the liminal

Take us up into your rift

Guide us to the fount of the inverted obelisk

We will never be the hunter

Let us not be replicated after life in the ladder

Impale us to be your weapon carry us beyond the earth

Trying to figure out when to exhale versus inhale while making sure both styles still have the same grit. The guy truly deserves more respect.
