May there be breakdowns as long as they are treated like breakdowns. Breakdown can be bad but should at least be genuine. Breakdown must not be cynically calculated. Breakdown is not a point on a checklist. Breakdown must be treated with care and affection. Breakdown is love. Breakdown is life. I saw a squirrel today.

pop bands shouldn’t have breakdowns [3]

I'd honestly take whatever garbage breakdowns Lorna Shore shoves into their over sanitised wank than the boring ass junz surrounded by trap beats on this thing.

Band is in a superimposed state of fucking awful and quite fantastic. Meh, I'm loving Infinite Baths lately.

I like this description, and it's why these guys piss me off so much. They "should be" soooo much better than they are. They've shown flashes before on the EPs and on Sundowning. Even Summoning, which is probably their best song that isn't Jaws or something from Sundowning, was close to "finally getting there" only for the rest of the album and that song itself to be a little too self-indulgent with its structure (not the ending of it, it's actually the "we're still a heavy band" part at 1:30 that does nothing but de-rail the song's momentum I take umbrage with; this entire sequence shouldn't exist and the song should've gone directly into the "solo" at 2:05ish, shaving nearly 40 seconds of run time).

The trouble really started on Sundowning and I don't think they've released an album that isn't just "the first half of Sundowning or Sugar" again yet. Sundowning itself was pretty much the same song on repeat after a solid opener. By the time you get to Higher, you've heard the whole album, with the exception of maybe 'Gods' where they tried to come out of the gates flying, only for the song to return to "mid-tempo snooze" after the first riff.

I don't understand why they can't or refuse to put the pieces together. I feel more like they refuse to, because they're too capable as musicians to think what they're doing is a mistake or the result of "jam sessions." A coherent and focused Sleep Token album would be great, they've just never released one.

The issue I have is that every album is a 'half and half' - I like a cluster of songs on each album, but the soppier ballad stuff that this band can sometimes generate (and usually occupies half of an album at a time) sets my teeth on edge.

Their lyrics are and vessels vocals are the main thing that pisses me off the most

@Aeri add that to the fact that all their albums are about an hour long each, and you get a massive amount of nothing to listen to.

I wanna be a provider

Garner you with silk like a spider

Roll or die, you bet, I'm a rider

Your outer shell, your secret insider

I wanna be a provider

Your guiding hand, your final decider

That bit of fuel to your fire

Stoke your desire

Just let me know that you're mine

I wanna be a provider

I wanna be a provider

Yeah, yeah-ah

I wanna be a provider

Yeah, yeah-ah

Yeah 'Provider' is easily one of the worst things this band has ever made, save for that atrocious cover of 'Hey Ya'.

Lyrics are terrible, yeah. I listen to metal so... I generally ignore lyrics, lol, having terrible lyrics is almost part of the point. But true, it is "extra bad" when they're SO SRS and DRAMATIC and he's singing crap like that. xdd
