The review isn’t written as a sympathy piece. It’s about the music. That’s it. When I talk about the themes etc, it’s from his pov, not my view on it. All I’m saying in it is that it’s great music, and highlighting his sobriety and focus on his health indicate he’s putting in some real effort again. That’s it.

Again, I am not casting judgement on listening or even enjoying Manson from a purely moral lens. As I said much earlier in this thread, this site is practically built on the backs of Brand New and their music is almost exclusively informed by some truly horrifying actions.

But you need to own that fact and press onward, not deflect and say “controversy aside.” As others have said, Manson’s whole schtick is being a provocateur and edgelord. Now that we have information of some truly despicable actions that he’s done, you can’t suddenly act like he is just about the music. That’s where my problem lies.

I don’t have to talk about the controversy, because I don’t talk about politics on here and never will. Like the falling in reverse review; you want to talk about the political controversy? Go make a review about it. That’s not what I do. If I listen to something I like, I will say I like it, based on the merits of the music.
