Dead Cat is a good pet death song right there

Shouldn’t be a hot take jay, I gave my dogs the biggest hug hearing that song.
I felt so bad when I saw Conor’s instagram post about Milk. That just fucking sucks, I really lack words for it tbh.

I'm glad this album delivered for you, Wildcard.
A few interesting notes from perusing conversation so far...
Ya'll are wild for being bored by Dead Internet. The eerie, icy pianos getting consumed by those massive riffs is so satisfying and gritty before you even factor in the chilling screams.
I'm equally as surprised by the love for Barking. If there's one song here that I think doesn't fit the album, this is it. It's a well-composed, catchy song that is fairly predictable in how in unravels -- so, the polar opposite of the rest of this. Dead Cat is a strange one for sure, I like that about it. It's weird and a little creepy, with those low register vocals and screams of "I smell death". If we're gonna keep the Daisy comparisons going (which we by all means should), Dead Cat is this album's Be Gone.
So much despair and defeat on this record. For those unaware, the album art is taken from the Terme Boxer statue (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_at_Rest) which depicts that of a Roman fighter who had been worn down and beaten. The more I read the lyrics here, the more I appreciate the artwork selection.
Oh, and Cleaning is absolutely devestating. It's about Milk dying, so the bareness of the song is pretty appropriate.

Barking is excellent and easily one of the best here for me. I absolutely love the chorus melody and atmosphere. Looks Like Nothing is the track I’m most perplexed at people loving. It kind of reminds me of If I Believed in Love from DDTM, which is a vocal performance I’m very much not into.

Barking is enjoyable, don't get me wrong. But it just feels...unchallenging? Looks Like Nothing's payload is ridiculously well-earned compared to IiBiL, and that's coming from someone who really, really has a blast every time that song comes on. Between the slow build, the screams, and the blistering, never-ending guitar solo, LLN is just next level shit from these guys.

I don’t care for if I believed in love much at all, but I love Looks Like Nothing. In my first few listens, Looks Like Nothing and Gratitude are my highlights. Secret history and Hell99 probably round out my top 4 currently.
Really unsure how to rate this album. ~1/3 of the tracks aren’t doing it for me at all, but the high points are great.

Looks Like Nothing is the perfect combo of Smidley and Foxing

^ that probably explains why I wasn’t super into it. Haven’t rly been a fan of anything I’ve heard from Smidley outside of the opener of HCTD

It reminds me of In Poor Taste which is another top 5 Conor song

I admittedly hear way more NMG in this album than I do Smidley. This is an angrier, messier Nearer My God.
Speaking of Smidley though, did anyone else catch the melody in Cry Baby? Definitely felt like a nod to Do You Still Love Me.

I still take the stance of looks like nothing being similar to you won’t know and that’s my favorite song on tdag so it makes sense for it to be my favorite song here

Idk personally I feel like You Won't Know is very menacing and purposeful and Looks Like Nothing is ragged and unpredictable, but I do hear BN on this album in general

You Won't Know is a barnburner and the majority of Looks Like Nothing is some of the most plaintive eargrating shit I've heard this year, so hmm bet [2]

Definitely hear YWN on LLN and also BN on this album in general [2]
@Gyro I don't think that's a terribly roastable ranking; it's well-balanced. My top 10 Foxing songs would skew very heavily towards this album and would 100% necessitate a Lich Prince inclusion, so I'll have to think about my version of the list.
YWN is a barnburner and LLN is too, just takes a little bit longer to get there. One of the most earned breakdowns in Foxing's entire career.

Looks Like Nothing and Gratitude kinda stand head and shoulders over the rest of this album, but it’s still solid as a whole

That's a decent top 10 Gyro, I don't see what's roast worthy
I think Grand Paradise or Looks Like Nothing is my fave Foxing song
