The newest singles are insane as well. The newest release is possibly shaping up to be their best besides NSV

Malicious Needs is out of this world good

my big problem with this and the new one is the production. it’s so hard to listen to and makes it basically impossible for me to appreciate the actual music.

Very much doubt it will be better than Blasphemy. The McGachy-era releases haven't even topped Whisper Supremacy in my book.

it will definitely not be better than whisper

agreed about the prod and drum sound. i dont even hate modern metal production in the right contexts, but def prefer dm production dirtier and more organic

I think the recent CC albums strike a good balance

The reality is if this was by some unknown band it'd have a 3.9 or higher.
The Cryptopsy you know and loved is gone, deal with it

Agreed with that tbh. This version of Cryptopsy rules. I can see the production complaints tbh but it doesn't bother me at all. I think it rules lol.

The s/t and beyond has been fucking amazing, they had a weird 2000-2010 era but it wasn't horrible (besides maybe unspoken), obviously the first three are classic

S/t did grow on me a bit but I don't love it. It's solid. The Tome EPs and this are top tier though.

Assuming you're referring to the average, that would imply it's roughly on par with some of the most universally acclaimed post-90s dm releases, e.g. albums by Dead Congregation, Funebrarum, Artificial Brain, or Defeated Sanity. Imo, the current average accurately reflects the unreality of that notion, rather than being the product of disgruntled old men yelling at clouds.
