I wonder what your eq settings are if the prod sounds terrible. Certainly think this is their best produced album

Yeah idk I still feel like the production suits their sound. Admittedly though, this is an album that sounded better on my bassier and less detailed earphones rather than my open back and more neutral/detailed cans

the bass tone can get a little ridiculous when there's a lot of distortion, but that's symptomatic of all releases in this scene rn

"Great album but I don’t think anything else could be any more by the numbers."

Yo, not taking any flak to Heavener

Heavener's sound palette is well above the standard for this scene. Real shame that the songwriting and chug reliance are as boilerplate as it comes, but y'all have so many of those fucking by-numbers records that I'm sure there's a better fit for that claim

I dont despise the production overall, the guitars and bass are nice and thicc and some of the parts with super over the top distortion are pretty cool. its mainly just this type of super artifical and overly compressed drums (which is pretty standard these days for modern metalcore shit) that hurts my ears

Drums are the main issue agreed. Noise rock esque distortion is actually sweet.

Like I really don’t understand. Do people want every snare hit on an album to sound the same, or at most soft snare/loud snare? You might get get medium volume snare if you behave.

Maybe I'm not paying attention enough but they just sound really crisp and full to me. They sound quite a bit wider on my earphones than any of the other tracks and it adds to that aggressive feel

Yea as far as core goes this is really all I need. Toss in some of that new Pupil Slicer too and I'm good for the year.

I haven't been this excited for a metal release in a minute and this Exceeded all expectations. Production slaps, vocals slap, breakdowns are the best in the game. The melodies that pop up are also the best they have done. Gatekeeper stole the show for me. I'm about to gush endlessly about this online and to all my friends.
