A nice medium-length Swans track.

Birthing could be something very special

I dug this album quite a bit for a few weeks when it came out.
New single is…something lol

Started listening to the new track but then I figured I'd much prefer going into the full album blind, so I didn't get past the droning first part
"A nice medium-length Swans track" lol true

Swans are one of the few bands that can release a 20 minute single and it somehow feels short

Not sure I dig the new single all that much. Why does the final third sound like Bowie's "Heroes" so much?

I love it, the guitars are extremely "Heroes", not sure whether or not it's an intentional nod

After all, Gira did appear on a cover of Bowie's 'Under Pressure' hmmmmmm

Can't believe Gira is 71. Time is a thief.

In November I was at Kristof Hahn's solo set and he closed with a stunning cover of Heroes sung in German. I think it's pretty intentional here.

On a side note, I predict time will be very kind to this album.

Cannot wait to listen to Birthing after work, probably my most anticipated release of the year so far

I have to wait until Monday with this, but I can already feel the dopamine rush as I hit play for the first time. The moments worth living for.

> How’s the new album
No surprises, the same as last few - overly long, overly repetitious, poser to the point of leaving meaning but still has its moments of glory.
|
| |
On first pass, Birthing seems to sprawl more like The Seer than anything since Leaving Meaning. Not saying it necessarily shares the tone/quality of that era, but there’s a sense of scope that feels a bit freer and more urgent than the last few. But I liked The Beggar quite a bit, so don’t mind me.
