“Daniel Tompkins?”
Nah! Good technique and tone, not a fan of his style. It’s a thing with quite a few djent vocalists where in the softer parts of their styles, they adopt a floaty, “ethereal” style and i find it so boring. It’s like Chino Moreno shit. It’s just so lethargic and dull sounding

you can certainly get used to wonky sound palettes, so aside from it sounding noticeably worse than every single song surrounding it in every single way i agree simon
if every other track were made in garageband too and had the worst hi hats of all time it'd fit in better, that's all

Having now finished this, I have to say this was the best kind of hot mess.
Seriously though I am really surprised at how much I enjoyed this despite a) Shadows’ vocals b) the mix and c) how fucking strange it is at times. So much fun though.

@MoM: I always loved that kinda stuff. And Spencer's belts have that 00s emocore vibe that just gets me. It's like if Sonny Moore took proper singing lessons in the 00s but still had that extremely earnest tone to him.

That's basically everything I dislike about his vocals, but again, to each their own

@Koris: that'll do it. I became a fan through him doing that run as Diet Sonny Moore in From First to Last though so that's why I went with that comparison.

To be fair and charitable, I actually do enjoy Spencer's harsh vocals quite a bit... it's just his cleans that I can't stand. Maybe I'm just being narrow-minded, but the whole "emo vox over djenty prog metal" aesethetic immediately turns me off. There's just something about it that can't possibly register correctly in my mind

hahahaha what the fuck is going on?
I hate A7X. Never could get into them. This is WILD on first listen.

Tbh sometimes it's weird, like "Make Total Destroy", but like, a jam like Absolomb? Lune? SATELLITES? It works perfectly in those situations. I love the emo vox, for me there's not much better.

I've seen a heavily edited reaction to the whole album and I'm really intrigued now, everything sounded great and interesting

Just checked the charts and it has a 3.66, so not quite yet. But it just might :]
That would be pretty crazy... having their highest rating come from so late in their career

Still salty brooks ditched Bad Religion for this shit.

"It's great because is different from everything else"
I always wondered what it took to impress the Sputnik crowd. Just be literally anything except "mainstream", no matter how terrible. Reminds me why I stopped reading reviews and comment on here. let me list some of my grievances with the album so that I'm not whining without reason.
-Some songs contain just spoken word but "omg the vocals are song amazing, top tier"
-Nobody, which is by far the best song, is the ripped in comments.
-Weird funk vibes totally out of left field
-Weird vocal skipping effect all over the place wtf is that shit?
-Cosmic sounds like any Dream Theater song ever played at 1.25 speed with weird vocal filters, but "it's their best song ever".
-Mattel, which is recognizably A7X, and therefore awesome, is the only song of it's type on the album.
-A fucking piano piece as an outro, as nice as it is.
