These days, it’s rare to hear an album that actually lives up the the hype. This is a talented band making brilliant music. Felt the last two album were good, but not amazing. This album blew me away with several tracks I’ve got on repeat.

@Beardog: For sure. I guess I'm just projecting because so many Youtubers I was a fan of have been exposed or otherwise outed for being shitty recently... like more than usual these days, lol

“ Is there something wrong with women with nose piercings...?”

No, but there’s definitely something wrong with dudes willing to go to bat to defend literally anything online lol

We all see your cape, you don’t have to remind everyone.

Thanks for taking a simple joke so seriously

The real joke is on some members of the site, at least one "staff" included, biting on the bait of the "God of Sleep lore" that was clearly a brand gimmick. They'll call this album pretentious but listen to lazily produced black metal that sounds like it was recorded in a wind tunnel and jerk themselves off over it's apparent conceptual themes.

sympathetic outsider take but this strain of argument kinda collapses on itself. the 'joke' you have conjured into discussion would be on you too apparently since you're advancing it in that moment alone. and I guess me too now. ha ha! concepts on concepts, what could go wrong??

suggesting that this band's bullshit schtick is any less cringe for being a gimmick is about as idiotic an argument as assuming that every performative tryhard who pulls a hitler salute for an easy attention grab is an actual nazi

this is also the worst album of the year until further notice

I never said that the gimmick was a trump card that excused them from legitimate criticism.

So, after a full listen I get the hype from the fan base; 16-year old me would have really enjoyed this. But the song-writing and record experience overall is really incohesive. It's mostly the metal parts that feel way too forced and out of place, and the poppy parts are not that interesting to let those carry the record further.

The drumming and piano parts are really nice though

"I never said that"

well whatever the fuck you were trying to express shat its pants in sticky rush of basic bitch optics and misplaced strawmen, so if you wanna give that one another crack be my guest

"Now rec us"

there isn't a single album remotely like this that i would ever recommend even for sadistic reasons. get loathe and post malone on back to back and keep riding that clutch train

Don't see how this is more cohesive than their previous releases. It's not really the genre hopping/blending thing, they do it better than most. They're just -still- super inconsistent in writing quality and execution. Some serious gems on here (Chokehold, Vore), and some serious, serious stink (Granite, DYWTYLM).
