Kid a is a 5 and the word “experimental” truly has nothing to do with it

Like you really think the average Radiohead fan even knows what experimental music is let alone had kid a be a gateway to it?

Album Rating: 4.0 | Sound Off

the paradox of experimental music is that the more people there are that enjoy it, the less of it there will be, because it will never be experimental enough for them to stop gatekeeping it

“Like you really think the average Radiohead fan even knows what experimental music is let alone had kid a be a gateway to it?”
Be real, Kid A has been fetishised for so long across online music fandom as the most major act of groundbreaking experimentalism ever undertaken by a major rock band that it’s absolutely resaonable to take its reputation with a grain of salt. The number of 00s emeritus reviews on Sput that clutch at it every time they need a point of comparison for anything vaguely off-piste are proof enough of that
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t perfectly good reasons to rep it too, but it represents such a range of things to such a range of people (a large subcategory of whom just so happen to be gross rymist try-hards) that I will never resist an occasion to poke fun at it if reducing tec's 5list to optics
"johnny has thrice 5d, pass it on"
this is a) inaccurate and b) far less embarrassing than half the posthxc scene leftovers you have in the attic over there kid

Johnnny I think you are a lot more guilty of rating for optics than tec is and those 2 paragraphs really don’t convince me otherwise

'Mort do you rate Simon Blackburn?'

I have and use his oxford dictionary of philosophy

And I have read his 'Being good: an introduction to ethics'

But neither of those works really involve his own philosophical views so I cant say I know much about him or his thought.
