I feel the same. Risk is a half decent album imo, and their last two were excellent. Tears In A Vial is one of my favorite songs ever.

I'm hardly a fanboy, I only have one Metallica album as a 5/5.
Note I have this as a 5 as well.
And explicitly stated that most of 'Deth's work is better than 'Tallica's.

Just because Metallica are my favourite band doesn't make me a fanboy, I have gone weeks without listening to them. Though you're dead-on with the 5k plays, but that's pretty much matched by Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Megadeth and Led Zeppelin.
