Blinded is up their with their greatest compositions. Also a great track to ease someone into Post Metal, since it has prominent vocals and clean melodic ones at that too

I mostly enjoy this but Reckoning sounds like something I'd here during a truck commercial

Yeah i hated it at first but its a typical Brodsky kinda ballad hard rock thing that he digs. I kinda like it now

This album is more than excellent. I wish Mastodon had had half the inspiration these guys have had in the last 10 years.

This is better than what I thought it was going to be, was honestly a little concerned by what I’d previously gathered

Listening to this with good IEMs is a game changer. Kurt is a goddamn studio wizard with heavy music

Far too long and sometimes a little too familiar, but admittedly has some decent riffs.

Gonna have to spend more time with this. Put it on for a run yesterday and there are some real good tracks on here (New Reality, Amaranthine & Wavering Angel stood out a fair bit) but it did lose my interest in a couple of places.
Realised I hadn't turned off shuffle though, so the album was all over the place which probably didn't help.

Qwenta is always down for bashing Mastodon. Quite annoying tbh

It's a weird place to plant your flag as well. As solid as this is, these guys are not exactly doing anything revolutionary here. I'd say even those of you that enjoy this more than myself have been admitting that.

There's a few Masto cuts here and there I could agree.
This is a pleasant accessible release to go with the fam. I gave it a fair ammount of listens and enjoy it thouroughly.
Agreed no wheels are being turned.

I wouldn't expect either band to be reinventing the wheel this late into their respective careers either, to be clear
and I happen to prefer this to modern Masto, yet didn't feel the need to bring them up
You listen to this with the family? Haha. Try playing High on Fire to take this shit to the next level.

Ahah sure. It holds to the wife barometer. Sometimes I shoot some HoF sure, but that s me pushing it. Like the other day jamming artificial brain on loud home speakers XD I loved it, but made me feel guilty in some way

Okay I wasn't gonna suggest going that far (yet), baby steps
lol

Qwenta makes a fair point - this feels overlong in the sense of the band catching onto a decent sound and running away with it, while the new Mastodon feels overlong because they recycle themselves to (hurr) oblivion on it. Cogent comparison since inspiration is entirely respective to each band's body of work, perfectly viable place to make it
